Well, what with the whole not drinking during the week thing, and the shitty sleeping thing, i've not done much of this drawing at all.  But, hopefully i'll get a bit done tonight or tomorrow.  (Working on a tattoo idea this afternoon, though what i really want to do is go YO!   Bring on the carousel of tasty treats.   Anyone misusing their employer's facilities at the moment fancy a bit of a skive on a friday afternoon?)

Anyway, just in case i do get a bit done this weekend here's a before

and after (last night)

Can you tell what it is yet?

I've redrawn the chap's arm and chest, and raised the lil nipple to get a little tension in there (that's one tense nipple).  Also, i've opened his eyes so that the two figures can be staring at each other with a hint of hostility, rather than serenely gazing at their feet as before.  There's supposed to be a suggestion of conflict here.

I like the way you can see how i build up an area by breaking an image into it's dominant constituent shapes to build a framework and then link it up to fill in the basic image.  I then rework it to build up a little warmth, and hopefully life.

I'm beginning to wish that i'd rotated the figures to reduce the amount of space between them and drawn them bigger to fill the whole frame.  I think that'd make it look a lot more intense with the figures being aware of nothing outside their embrace (?).  However, i'd probably lose sight of the arch that they're supposed to be forming.  Certainly i need to do something about the flatness of the lighting.

It all seems a little sloppy at the moment.  Probably because i haven't been getting as involved with it as i normally would, and i'm not working very closely with the photographs (the anatomy is becoming less and less naturalistic).  But then, it's early days yet. :)

When the rude bits appear, do i have to set the adult content thing as 'adult' or 'explicit'?

I've had a bit of a look at a journal or six to see what people actually use this thing for and... well seeing as how i don't burn myself, don't travel much, and am quite settled in my life, i thought i'd try showing how one of my drawings progresses.  people do tend to ask how they're going and i'm so slow that this'll give me a bit of a subject for two or three months.

someone calling herself balamuthia posts some nice photographs so...

this is the drawing that i'm working on at the mo, three sessions in.

the picture is about  heterosexual male relationships.  i'm hoping that the two figures will look as though there's some conflict between them (though not violent) while they support each other at the same time.  - the idea is that they form an arch.  chairs will form part of the fore and background.

remember i was looking for a couple of gentlemen of similar build who'd be willing to pose nude?  well, i ended up taking pics of myself to work from.  hopefully i'll be able to adapt them to look like two completely different people (that guy's got a completely made up head!!!).

i may re-shade the right side of that face to make the lighting a bit starker.  I  found a pic called '186' by 'ViestursLinks' that i'd love to draw like, but i seem to have adopted my usual style for this one.... and '186' turned out to be a photograph that'd been put through a computer program... ...oh dear.  something else that makes me think that i should learn how to use a camera rather than spend months scratching away at these things.

also his arm  and booby need redrawing (lift that nip) so that their hands meet comfortably and bodies become more tense towards each other.  i think it's going okay so far, but i'm a lil bothered that it may look less naturalistic than my usual stuff.  :)
